This research was intended to evaluate the viability of using pavement preservation materials as a waterproofing treatment on bridge decks. However, because of the very limited use of this practice in the United States and the almost non-existing research on the topic, familiarity with this practice is not widespread. In addition, it appears that identifying a rational process for conducting such evaluation would require a large research effort. Proposals received did not demonstrate in high potential for success; a decision has been made to not pursue this research under the NCHRP Project 20-07 series. (NCHRP staff: Amir N. Hanna)
