The project examined the practices for alternative contracting methods and materials acceptance and produced (1) Proposed Guidelines for Developing a Materials Acceptance Plan for Alternative Contracting Methods and (2) Proposed Standard Practice for Developing Materials Acceptance Plans for Alternative Contacting Methods.  These products are provided in the report as Attachments 1 and 2, respectively.  The proposed standard practice was prepared for consideration by the AASHTO Highway Subcommittee on Materials, and possible adoption and inclusion in the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testing.  A copy of the report has been provided to AASHTO staff with a request to make it available to the chair and members of SOM’s Technical Section 5c, Quality Assurance, Data Evaluation and Acceptance Plans.  Also, the findings of this research will be presented at the meeting of the technical section scheduled during the upcoming SOM meeting.
