Task 155, FY 2002, "Signing Standards for Two-Lane Exit Ramps with an 'Option' Lane", (University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Jonathan Upchurch). The study assessed alternative sign designs for two-lane freeway exits where the left-hand exit lane also continues as a through lane. Four signing alternatives were evaluated using a driving simulator. The results have been delivered to the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and are being considered for the next revision of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
