Task 148, FY 2002, "Evaluation of Potential Impacts on the State DOTs of the US Access Board's Recommendations on Public Rights-of-Way" (Texas Transportation Institute, Kay Fitzpatrick). Recommendations contained in the Building a True Community Report (Public Rights-of-Way Access Advisory Committee of the U.S. Access Board, January, 2001) were reviewed that apply to the design and construction of highways, sidewalks, and other infrastructure under the purview of the state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), and determined the potential impacts these recommendations would have on the DOTs. The impacts considered included, but were not limited to: financial impacts, schedule delays, liability issues, and practicality issues. The contractor's technical memorandum, based on a meeting of the AASHTO Task Force on Accessibility, was delivered to AASHTO in December 2001. (NCHRP Staff: B.R. Derr)
