Task 119, FY 2000, "Environmental Best Practices Competition" (TransManagement, Christina Casgar). Through an environmental "best practices" competition, this study demonstrated to environmentalists and regulatory agencies the good environmental work being done by states. It will also provide states with examples of what can be achieved through effective collaboration with environmental organizations and/or regulatory agencies. The AASHTO member departments were invited to submit entries for consideration in AASHTO's national competition. Forty-four entries from 27 states were received. In August, an expert panel selected eight finalists for further consideration. The national winners were selected during the AASHTO Annual Meeting in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A final report was published and distributed by AASHTO. (NCHRP Staff: R.D. McCready)
