Task 111, FY 1999, "Support for AASHTO Task Group on Retroreflectivity Standards" This study supplied travel funds for a task force appointed by the AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways to work in partnership with the private sector, other interests, and FHWA to review research findings and other relevant information related to establishing minimum requirements for retroreflectivity of traffic control devices. The task force has met four times and focused largely on sign retroreflectivity issues. A final recommendation on sign retroreflectivity was made to the AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways in October 2000. The task force has decided to be inactive until the FHWA develops or recommends guidelines for pavement markings. Since funds were largely exhausted, this project has been terminated.
