Task 69, FY 1994, "Recommended Revisions to Construction Specifications for Highway Bridges" (Dr. John Kulicki). The objective of this study was to provide recommended revisions to Division II (Construction) of the AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges (15th edition and interims) to make it compatible with the recently adopted AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. It is anticipated that the research will include the following tasks: (1) Review and assess Division II with respect to its compatibility with the new LRFD design specifications. The compatibility should include overall philosophy, unit nomenclature, and cross references; (2) Review and assess Division II with respect to the metric equivalents noted in the LRFD design specifications; (3) Develop recommended revisions to Division II to provide the desired compatibility with the LRFD design specifications; and (4) Submit a final report that documents the research and that includes the recommended revisions as an appendix. In 1995, AASHTO adopted the results of this research as the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Construction Specifications. In 1997, AASHTO adopted additions to these specifications including provisions for segmental bridges and a section on aluminum structures. All work on this contract has been completed.
