Task 66, FY 1994, "The Development and Training of Pavement Engineering Personnel" (Dr. Everett C. Carter). The AASHTO Joint Task Force on Pavements (JTFP) identified training of pavement engineers as an important issue during its workshop held in Syria, Virginia, in March 1993. The loss of expertise in the pavement engineering area due to retirements leaves a void that can only be filled through an effective training program. Presently, there are not a lot of resources devoted to training in the pavement engineering area. With the change in mode of operations from design/build to operate/maintain, and with the development of much new technology, further shortages of trained personnel exist. The objectives of this research were to analyze existing pavement engineering training resources and develop a strategy for filling needs. The project is complete, and the final report has been distributed to the AASHTO Joint Task Force on Pavements. (NCHRP Staff: A.N. Hanna)
