Asset inventory data collection is an essential part of an asset management plan. In addition to supporting asset management systems, transportation agencies are identifying new demands for data utilization (e.g., developing performance measures for asset warranty projects).   This project reviewed and assessed the current practices for the collection, processing, and management of roadway asset data, and developed a Guide on the activities associated with asset data collection and management.  The Guide introduces the methodologies commonly used for collecting asset information, and provides guidance on methodology selection, data collection, and data processing and management.  A report summarizing the research performed in the project and includes the Guide in a stand-alone format has been prepared and provided to AASHTO staff; it is available on the AASHTO Highway Subcommittee on Maintenance website.
