The Highway Safety Manual (HSM) is being developed through a series of NCHRP projects and with the guidance of the TRB and AASHTO Task Forces on the HSM. The draft of the first edition was completed in early 2009 and after the balloting process will become an AASHTO publication. The objective of this project is to develop a work plan for the 2nd edition of the Highway Safety manual. The project has ben completed. Copies of the final report have been sent to AASHTO's Standing Committee on Highway Traffic Safety. (NCHRP Staff: Charles W.
