AASHTO 2002, the future guide for new and rehabilitated pavements, uses axle load spectra rather than equivalent axle loads. In this investigation, the new guide’s methodology is applied to obtain standard axle load spectra for each weigh station in Chile’s Santiago Metropolitan Region. The data so obtained are compared with the default values given in the AASHTO 2002 design guide, revealing significant differences between the two sets of spectra.
