The objective of this research was to develop an improved mix design procedure for hot mix asphalt (including dense-graded, open-graded, and gap-graded mixes) in the form of a manual of practice for use by engineers and technicians in the public and private sectors.
The mix design manual and commentary are available as NCHRP Report 673, "A Manual for Design of Hot Mix Asphalt with Commentary." Appendixes C-F of the project final report are available as NCHRP Web-Only Document 159, "Supporting Materials for NCHRP Report 673." The companion Excel spreadsheet program HMA Tools may be downloaded here.
A set of PowerPoint presentations to accompany the short course manual (Appendix C) are also available.
