NCHRP 09-13 [Completed]

Evaluation of Water Sensitivity Tests

  Project Data
Funds: $150,000
Research Agency: University of Nevada-Reno
Principal Investigator: Jon Epps
Effective Date: 11/1/1997
Completion Date: 8/31/1999

The objective of this research was to evaluate AASHTO Standard Method of Test T 283, "Resistance of Compacted Bituminous Mixture to Moisture Induced Damage," and recommend any changes necessary to make it compatible with the Superpave mix design method.

This project developed recommended changes to AASHTO Standard Method of Test T 283 to enhance the method's compatibility with Superpave volumetric mix design. The revised final report was published as NCHRP Report 444, "Compatibility of a Test for Moisture-Included Damage With Supreme Volumetric Mix Design," and is also available in its entirety on NCHRP CD-ROM CRP-CD-8, "Bituminous Materials Research Series II, NCHRP Projects 9-11, 9-12, and 9-13." Recommended revisions to AASHTO Standard Method of Test T 283 were referred to the AASHTO Highway Subcommittee on Materials.
