Based on the project panel recommendation, the project is cancelled as the research objective(s) cannot be achieved using the existing data that is very limited and not consistent. The project panel reviewed and discussed the products of NCHRP Project 24-46: Development of an Implementation Manual for Geotechnical Asset Management for Transportation Agencies that was completed in September 2018. As a result, the project panel recommended owners implementing the developed manual  as the first step in order to establish a geotechnical asset management (GAM) before conducting any research related to GAM. After years of implementing GAM by different owners and collecting data, research can be conducted successfully to establish the deterioration rates and unit costs for geotechnical assets.
