BACKGROUND
At a recent AASHTO meeting of the Standing Committees on Planning, Environment and Public Transportation, the Utah, Colorado and Florida DOTs presented examples of coordinated planning efforts that bring together the State DOT, the MPOs and regional transit agencies to plan for and advance transportation solutions that are multi-modal in nature. A synthesis of multi-modal transportation projects coordinated planning efforts performed by State DOTs, the MPOs and regional transit agencies is needed to assist those entities with how to succeed in coordinated planning of multi-modal transportation projects, in particular coordinated road and transit projects.
