Transit IDEA J-04/IDEA 076 [Completed (IDEA)]

RideScout Mobile Application
[ TCRP J-04 (Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis--The Transit IDEA Program) ]

  Project Data
Funds: $100,000
Staff Responsibility: Jo Allen Gause
Research Agency: RideScout LLC
Principal Investigator: Ryan Black
Fiscal Year: 2013

RideScout further developed, tested, and launched the RideScout product; a mobile application that helps you get from point A to point B faster and smarter. RideScout aggregates information for travelers on all types of ground transportation options, including public, private, and social rides. RideScout shows you real-time information about transportation options that are available around a user right now.
An overwhelming number of single mode transportation applications has fragmented the industry and made it difficult for the consumer to find the transportation information they need. Rather than providing consumers with yet another mode of transit, RideScout organizes information on all existing transportation options and displays them in one simple interface.

During this project, the RideScout team completed development and testing of the RideScout mobile application, and launched and performed field testing analysis in Austin, Texas and Washington DC. As a result of the project, RideScout is increasing transit usage, improving transportation operating efficiencies, and protecting the environment, while promoting energy independence.
