Comparing HMA Dynamic Modulus Measured by Axial Compression and IDT Methods

  Project Data
Funds: $77,645
Research Agency: Villanova University
Principal Investigator: Leslie Ann McCarthy
Effective Date: 3/31/2011
Completion Date: 8/31/2012

The objectives of this research were to (1) statistically compare HMA dynamic modulus (E*) values measured by the indirect tension (IDT) test developed by Kim et al. with those measured in axial compression with AASHTO TP 62 and TP 79 and (2) determine the sensitivity of pavement distress predictions obtained with the MEPDG and QRSS to the use of E* values measured by the two different methods.
