The product of this project is BRIDGIT Version 3.0 for Windows 95/NT, a microcomputer-based bridge management program. BRIDGIT has been distributed to all AASHTO Member Departments.
Bridge management systems are needed to assist state and local engineers in making cost-effective decisions regarding existing bridges. A bridge management system should incorporate: (1) inventory and inspection data; (2) service classification and rating; (3) maintenance and rehabilitation needs for particular bridges; (4) cost-effective choices from among various options (i.e., closing, posting, preventive maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement); and (5) data on the cost effectiveness of various maintenance activities.
The objective of this project was to develop, validate, and document a fully operational microcomputer-based bridge management system software package that can be readily used by transportation agencies. The requirements for this system are described in NCHRP Report 300. BRIDGIT 3.0 fully satisfies these requirements.
NCHRP has transferred the copyright on BRIDGIT 3.0 to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Support and maintenance services for BRIDGIT 3.0 are now provided by AASHTO under the AASHTOWare program. For additional information on BRIDGIT, please contact AASHTO staff.
