The objectives of this research were to (a) produce a synthesis of transportation agency practices and rationales for delivering real-time information, (b) provide guidance on assessing the potential effect of real-time information on trip behavior of travelers, and (c) suggest potential agency practices to best facilitate use of real-time traveler information in the future. The results of the research should be useful for transportation operations and policy staff and other practitioners interested in establishing, enhancing, or developing future traveler information systems.
