Synthesis of Transit Practice 50
Accommodation of Common Wheelchairs on Transit Buses Using Rear-Facing Position

TRB’s Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) Synthesis 50: Use of Rear-Facing Position for Common Wheelchairs on Transit Buses describes the international state of the practice with respect to use of the rear-facing position for accommodating “common wheelchairs” (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act) on large transit buses (more than 30,000 lbs) and identifies pertinent issues related to its transferability to the U.S. context.  This topic is published at http://www.trb.org/news/blurb_detail.asp?id=2311
