The objective of this task was to continue and improve the TMIP process for disseminating information on travel model improvements. The ultimate goal of this TMIP outreach activity was to provide policy and decision makers with the best and most accurate information obtainable in a timely manner for their deliberations. TMIP provides information on new travel forecasting procedures for state and local agency staff personnel through a comprehensive program that includes a World Wide Web site, semi-annual newsletter, annual conferences, and periodic topical seminars. TMIP also provides opportunities for interaction among researchers and practitioners by maintaining e-mail subscriber lists. The outreach program also includes a clearinghouse that publicizes and makes available publications prepared in TMIP and other contributory projects, and many of those publications are published on the TMIP website. TMIP continues providing training and technical assistance for transportation planners and prepares user manuals to help them use the best travel forecasting procedures available.
