Objective: To update two FTA documents (the Transit System Security Program Planning Guide (1997) and the Transit Security Handbook (1998)) and combine them into one document. This new
Guide is based on research that identifies practical steps that systems can take to be better prepared for all emergencies.
Status: Completed. The document's companion CD-ROM includes a wealth of resources to support security and emergency planning. The revised final report and its companion CD were received in August 2002 and forwarded to the Federal Transit Administration. A version was published by FTA, and is available on the FTA web site at
