The objective of this project was to develop and implement a U.S. Department of Transportation clearinghouse to serve as a “one-stop” source of information for the transportation community on transportation and climate change issues.  This project has been co-funded with FHWA.  Greenhouse gas emissions and the related subject of global climate change is an emerging and critical issue for the transportation community. Currently, the transportation sector contributes 28 percent of all U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change will have substantial and far reaching impacts on transportation operations and infrastructure due to increased temperatures, intensity of storms, sea level rise, and changes in precipitation. Currently, there is a lack of knowledge and understanding within the transportation community about the relationship between transportation and climate change, which limits the ability of transportation professionals and policy makers to make informed decisions. The website has been completed and is available online at https://climate.dot.gov/
